Heatwave Breaks in Rajasthan as Dust Storms and Rain Bring Relief
Heatwave Breaks in Rajasthan with Rain and Storms

Jaipur: Intense heatwave conditions that had been scorching Rajasthan for several days finally broke on Friday, as dust storms, cloud cover, and rain swept through various parts of the state, lowering temperatures and providing significant relief from the blistering heat.

Weather Systems Bring Showers

Fresh western disturbances brought mild to moderate showers to many places across the Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer, and Bikaner divisions. The resulting drop in temperatures offered some respite to a state that had been reeling under intense heatwave conditions for the past week.

However, western Rajasthan remained largely untouched by the milder climes that graced the rest of the state on Friday. Jaisalmer recorded the state's highest maximum temperature of 45.6 degrees Celsius.

Jaipur Experiences Evening Showers

In Jaipur, residents woke up to a slightly cooler morning as the city recorded a minimum temperature of 28.6 degrees Celsius. Things heated up by afternoon, with the mercury shooting up to 41 degrees Celsius. By evening, a dense cloud cover engulfed the capital city as gusty winds reduced visibility and created traffic chaos in several areas. Later in the evening, moderate showers and hail brought the temperature down further.

Despite the relief in eastern Rajasthan, western districts continued to sizzle. Phalodi recorded the state's second-highest temperature of 44.8 degrees Celsius, followed by Bikaner at 44 degrees Celsius, Barmer and Sri Ganganagar at 43.7 degrees Celsius each, and Churu at 42.7 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in Udaipur was 38 degrees Celsius.

Rainfall and Forecast

Rainfall was reported from several parts of the state over the last 24 hours. Jhunjhunu received 24.5 mm of rainfall, while places like Pilani, Churu, and Sri Ganganagar saw some pre-monsoon precipitation.

The Met office stated that the prevailing western disturbance and local atmospheric systems are likely to continue influencing Rajasthan's weather over the next few days, bringing intermittent thunderstorms, dust storms, and rain, especially in eastern parts of the state.
