Heroin Worth Rs 5 Crore Seized at India-Pakistan Border

In a major breakthrough, security agencies seized 1.041 kilograms of heroin valued at approximately Rs 5 crore along the India-Pakistan international border in Sriganganagar on Sunday. A 20-year-old alleged smuggler was arrested during a joint operation conducted in Kesarisinhpur village.

Joint Operation Details

The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), and the Border Security Force's (BSF) G Branch collaborated in the operation. According to officials, the heroin consignment was dropped into Indian territory from Pakistan using a drone.

Arrest of the Accused

The accused, identified as Teerth Singh, a 20-year-old resident of Malkana Khurd in Sriganganagar, was apprehended when he arrived to collect the consignment. He is currently being interrogated, and agencies are working to identify other individuals linked to the drug network.

Operation Codename 'Dhurandhar'

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the operation codenamed 'Dhurandhar' was carried out under the direction of ANTF Inspector General Vikas Kumar and NCB Zonal Director Ghanshyam Soni (IRS). Officials stated that the heroin was packed in two packets of 500 grams each, wrapped in yellow polythene with rings attached, indicating drone delivery.

Legal Proceedings

A case was registered at the NCB Jodhpur under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Singh was taken to the NCB headquarters in Jodhpur for further questioning. The investigation is ongoing to dismantle the entire smuggling network.
