Teams from Jharkhand Police and the Special Task Force (STF) of Bihar Police conducted a joint operation on Thursday, unearthing an illegal arms manufacturing factory in the Sahibganj district. The raid, carried out under the jurisdiction of the Ranga police station, led to the seizure of more than a dozen semi-finished firearms along with sophisticated weapon-making machinery.
Factory Location and Raid Details
The illegal factory was operating from a house situated near Kendua Aamgachhi Eidgah. According to police sources, the location was provided by a suspected criminal who had been arrested in Patna a few days prior. However, no occupants were present at the house at the time of the raid.
Seized Items
During the search operation, law enforcement officials seized approximately 16 semi-finished pistols, magazines, and a large quantity of raw materials and equipment used for manufacturing illegal firearms. The scale and sophistication of the setup suggest that the factory was part of a larger inter-state illegal arms supply network.
Owner and Investigation
Although the owner of the house has not been formally identified, sources indicated that the property belongs to a man from Bihar known as Vakil, who is currently absconding. Confirming the action, Ranga police station officer Akhilesh Yadav stated, "The action was carried out based on the leads provided by some criminals arrested in Bihar. Further investigation is on to uncover the entire network and supply chain." An FIR has been registered with the Ranga police station, Yadav added.
The joint operation highlights the ongoing collaboration between state police forces to dismantle illegal arms manufacturing and trafficking networks operating across state borders.
