India has received the fourth S-400 Triumf air defence missile system, dubbed the Sudarshan squadron, from Russia. This delivery marks a significant milestone in bolstering India's long-range air defence capabilities, particularly along its northern and western borders.

The induction of the Sudarshan squadron strengthens India's air defence network, enabling it to detect, track, and destroy hostile aircraft, missiles, and drones at ranges of up to 400 kilometers. Deployment Plans
Defence sources indicate that the new squadron will be deployed in the northern sector to counter threats from China and Pakistan. It complements the three existing S-400 squadrons already operational in the country.
India signed a $5.43 billion deal with Russia in 2018 for five S-400 systems. Despite potential US sanctions under CAATSA, India has proceeded with the acquisition, citing national security imperatives.
