Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth underscored the strengthening ties between India and the Philippines, calling the relationship a 'multi-dimensional and impactful engagement.' He spoke at a Diplomatic Reception marking the 128th Anniversary of Philippine Independence in New Delhi.
Condolences for Mindanao Earthquake
Seth expressed deep sorrow over the devastation caused by the earthquake in Mindanao, offering heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wishing for the speedy recovery of the injured.
Broad Cooperation Across Sectors
He noted that India and the Philippines are collaborating in defence, security, trade, science and technology, tourism, and more. Increased direct connectivity and people-to-people ties have further boosted the partnership.
'The past year has been historic for India-Philippines bilateral relations,' Seth said, adding that these ties are evolving into a closer, multi-dimensional engagement. The Philippines remains a key partner in India's Act East Policy and SAGAR vision, especially as the current chair of ASEAN.
Shared Values as Anchor
Seth emphasized that the partnership, 'characterised by shared values, mutual trust, and complementarities,' serves as an anchor for growth and resilience amid geopolitical changes. He looked forward to further strengthening the strategic partnership.
