The Government of India has inaugurated a new dormitory building at the Lowo Nyiphug Namdrol Norbuling Monastic School in Lomanthang Rural Municipality-1, Mustang, Nepal. The project, completed under the High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) scheme, was jointly inaugurated by Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava and Lomanthang Rural Municipality Chairman Tashi Nharbu Gurung on Tuesday.
Project Details and Impact
The double-storied dormitory consists of four blocks with allied facilities, implemented through the Lomanthang Rural Municipality. The school plays a crucial role in preserving local cultural heritage, offering both Buddhist teachings and a standard curriculum aligned with Nepal's education system.
Strengthening Bilateral Ties
Ambassador Srivastava reiterated India's commitment to working closely with Nepal for shared growth and prosperity. The Indian Embassy highlighted that HICDPs reflect India's continued support in strengthening Nepal's development efforts, particularly in priority sectors like infrastructure.
Local stakeholders, including the school management, expressed gratitude for India's developmental support, noting that the new infrastructure will significantly improve accommodation facilities and the overall learning environment for students.
Broader Development Cooperation
Since the inception of the HICDP programme, nearly 600 projects have been undertaken across all seven provinces of Nepal, spanning 74 districts. In Gandaki Province alone, 63 projects have been executed, including 18 in Mustang District. Additionally, India has gifted 126 ambulances and 52 school buses to health and education institutions in Gandaki Province, with 11 ambulances and six school buses allocated to Mustang.
