Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Wednesday strongly condemned Kuwait for attacking an Iranian boat and detaining four of its citizens in the Persian Gulf. He demanded the immediate release of the nationals and stated that Iran reserves the right to respond to what he described as an unlawful act.
Araghchi made the remarks in a post on X, accusing Kuwait of attempting to sow discord. He wrote, "In clear attempt to sow discord, Kuwait has unlawfully attacked an Iranian boat and detained 4 of our citizens in the Persian Gulf. This illegal act took place near an island used by the U.S. to attack Iran. We demand immediate release of our nationals and reserve the right to respond."
Iranian state broadcaster Press TV reported that Kuwaiti territory has served as a major platform for US attacks on Iran during the ongoing conflict. Press TV further noted that Iran had previously responded to such attacks by targeting American bases in Kuwait and recommended that Kuwait expel US forces from its territory to avoid future Iranian reprisal attacks.
The security situation in the region continues to evolve. Araghchi's statement came shortly after reports emerged that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had visited the United Arab Emirates during Operation Roaring Lion, a claim that was categorically denied by the UAE. Meanwhile, Yemen's Deputy Foreign Minister Abdulwahid Abu Ras, in a letter to his Iranian counterpart, reaffirmed Yemen's full solidarity with Iran. He warned that the continuation of US-Israeli actions against Iran could set the region and the entire world on fire, as reported by Press TV on Wednesday.
Abu Ras highlighted the need for all Islamic countries to resist aggression against Iran. Praising the national unity and resilience of the Iranian people, he concluded the letter by underlining Yemen's complete solidarity with Iran in the face of US-Israeli actions.
