Kenyan Illegally in Mumbai for 26 Years Detained

Mumbai: A 61-year-old Kenyan national, Osino Omandi, who had been living illegally in India for the past 26 years, was detained by the Vakola Police. He was residing in a chawl on Nehru Road in Santacruz East.

Details of the Detention

The Vakola Police's Anti-Terrorism Cell received specific intelligence regarding a foreign national living in the chawl for an extended period. Upon inquiry, the police discovered that Omandi's visa had expired in the year 2000, and he had been staying in India without valid documentation. A Kenyan passport was found in his possession.

Legal Proceedings Initiated

The Vakola Police promptly informed the Foreigners' Regional Registration Office (FRRO) and the Special Branch (SB) II of the Mumbai Police to commence the process of deporting Omandi. The operation was conducted under the supervision of senior inspector Prakash Khandekar and DCP Nimit Goyal.
