The event occurred in Losing village, located within the Gogunda police station area of Udaipur district. Tulsiram Paliwal, a 55-year-old farmer, had just completed his wheat harvesting work and sought shade under a tree when the leopard, believed to have been concealed in nearby bushes, sprang without warning. Paliwal described the terrifying moment, stating the animal clawed at his neck as he desperately tried to defend himself.
Unexpected Rescue by Langurs
In the frantic moments following the attack, help arrived from an unexpected source. Two langurs from a troop sitting in a nearby tree descended and intervened, distracting the leopard. Paliwal credited the monkeys with saving his life, explaining that their loud calls alerted villagers working in adjacent fields. The combined disturbance created by the langurs and the ensuing noise from the rushing villagers proved overwhelming for the leopard, which quickly retreated into the forest.
Minor Injuries and Immediate Aftermath
Paliwal sustained only minor scratches on his back and hand during the encounter. Residents from nearby fields promptly transported the injured farmer to the government health centre in Losing, where he received primary treatment. Doctors confirmed his injuries were not serious, allowing for a swift recovery.
