Leopard Attack in Bijnor Leaves Woman Critically Injured
A 50-year-old woman sustained severe injuries after being attacked by a leopard in Hidayatpur village, located in the Kadarabad area of Bijnor district, according to police reports. The incident occurred on Monday morning at Murliwala Farm, approximately 3 kilometers from the village, where she was employed as a laborer in a field owned by Jeevan Singh.
Details of the Attack
Police stated that Momina Khatoon was peeling sugarcane in the field alongside other workers when a leopard suddenly emerged from nearby bushes and pounced on her. The animal allegedly targeted her neck, resulting in critical injuries that required immediate medical attention.
Fellow workers quickly raised an alarm and used sugarcane sticks to hit the leopard, forcing it to retreat from the scene. Family members rushed to the location and transported her to the community health center, where she is currently undergoing treatment for her injuries.
Response from Authorities
Forest department officials arrived at the site promptly and assured that compensation would be provided to the victim in accordance with government norms. Divisional Forest Officer Jai Singh Kushwah emphasized that a cage will be installed to capture the leopard and ensure public safety in the area.
