Ludhiana: Overnight rain brought a brief spell of relief from the heat in the city on Friday, though temperatures are set to climb again in the coming days, according to the Met department.

The impact of the rain was visible on temperatures. The maximum temperature settled at 36.4 degrees Celsius, which is 2.8 degrees below normal and 4 degrees lower than the previous day. The minimum temperature dropped to 23.2 degrees Celsius, also below the normal mark.

The Met department has forecast dry weather in the immediate days ahead, with a fresh spell of rain likely around June 10. Residents welcomed the brief change in weather after days of uncomfortable heat. Parks and public spaces saw higher footfall in the morning as people stepped out to enjoy the cooler conditions, while children made the most of the pleasant spell outdoors.
