A 26-year-old man lost his life and his mother sustained critical injuries when a speeding truck struck their motorcycle on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near the Mahi river in Jhabua district early Wednesday morning. The incident occurred around 5:30 am under the Khawasa outpost area.
Victim Identified
The deceased was identified as Omprakash Ninama, a resident of Movdipada Faliya in Talawada village. His mother, Meta Ninama, was seriously injured and referred to Ratlam for advanced medical treatment. Fortunately, Omprakash's infant son, who was also on the motorcycle, escaped unhurt.
Details of the Incident
According to police, the family was traveling to Piplimal village to seek traditional healing treatment for the child when the accident occurred. Omprakash had been married only a year ago. The speeding truck hit their motorcycle while they were crossing the expressway, causing fatal injuries to Omprakash and leaving his mother in critical condition.
Upon receiving information, Khawasa outpost in-charge Naresh Ninama reached the spot with a team. Police conducted a spot inspection and sent the body for postmortem examination. An investigation is underway to trace the truck driver, who fled the scene after the accident.
This tragic incident highlights the dangers of crossing major expressways, especially during early morning hours when visibility may be low. Authorities urge commuters to use designated crossings and remain vigilant while navigating high-speed corridors.
