Man Run Over by Bus in Kolkata, Multiple Accidents Reported

A 65-year-old man was run over by a private bus on Prince Anwar Shah Road near a mall in Kolkata on Friday around 11 am. The victim, identified as Amar Kumar Ghosh, a resident of Pratapaditya Road at Tollygunge, sustained multiple injuries and was declared brought dead at a nearby private hospital.

Police from Lake police station took charge of the bus and its driver. Following the accident, authorities strengthened patrolling and installed guardrails on the road near the mall to enhance safety.

Other Accidents on Friday

Several other accidents were reported across the city on the same day. Around 9:20 am, pedestrian Ranjan Nath (50), a resident of Sarsuna at Behala, was hit by an electric scooter on DH Road. He was admitted to Vidyasagar State General Hospital with multiple injuries, according to police.

In another incident, Vivek Sharma (23), a resident of Kamarhati, was injured when the motorbike he was riding pillion lost control and skidded off the carriageway near Strand Road and MG Road crossing. He was wearing a helmet at the time and was admitted to Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital.

Drowning Incident at Babughat

An elderly man from Jharkhand drowned in the Hooghly River at Babughat while bathing on Saturday morning. The victim was identified as Dharam Bhuniyan. Police reported that the disaster management group conducted a search to recover the body but has so far been unsuccessful.

Hit-and-Run on Thursday

On Thursday night, Chandana Maity, a resident of Falta, was injured after being hit by a taxi at Rani Rashmoni Avenue. She was admitted to SSKM Hospital, and police took charge of the taxi along with its driver.
