Monsoon Advances in Bengal, Kolkata Hot at 35.2°C

Kolkata: The southwest monsoon advanced further into the remaining parts of Bengal, west-central Bay of Bengal, and some more areas of Odisha, Jharkhand, and Bihar on Monday, according to a bulletin from the Regional Meteorological Centre. Conditions are favorable for further advancement of monsoon currents into these states over the next four to five days.

Kolkata Weather

Meanwhile, Kolkata remained warm and humid, recording a maximum temperature of 35.2°C. The temperature is likely to hover around the 35°C mark on Tuesday. Weather scientist Sourish Bandyopadhyay stated, "There is yet no rain-triggering system in the region, so the humidity and heat will continue."

North Bengal Forecast

North Bengal will continue to receive light to moderate rain and thundershowers over the next three to four days. The bulletin added that one or two places in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, and Cooch Behar may experience thunderstorms this week.
