Naidu urges NUS to set up campus in Amaravati

Vijayawada: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu urged National University of Singapore (NUS) President Tan Eng Chye to establish an international branch or satellite campus of the prestigious institution in Amaravati. Naidu held discussions with Tan Eng Chye on Monday, seeking support to transform Amaravati into a global destination for educational institutions.

Meeting Highlights

Senior officials and representatives from NUS innovation and urban studies departments participated in the meeting. Naidu emphasized that the state government is working diligently to develop Amaravati as a global education and innovation hub, aiming to attract world-class educational institutions to the capital region.

Existing Institutions and Future Plans

The Chief Minister informed the NUS delegation that several reputed institutions have already commenced operations in the Amaravati region. He sought NUS support in establishing a world-class Centre of Excellence in the Amaravati Quantum Valley through technical assistance and research collaboration.

Chandrababu Naidu stated that an NUS campus, recognized as one of the leading universities globally, would significantly enhance Amaravati’s growth as an international knowledge centre. He also requested the support of the NUS Policy Institute in designing innovative policies to attract global investors.

NUS Response

During the meeting, NUS professors inquired about the progress of Amaravati construction works and recalled their earlier involvement in preparing the city’s master plan. Tan Eng Chye confirmed that NUS would examine the proposal of setting up a campus in Amaravati and discuss the possibilities further.

Municipal Administration Minister Narayana and Secretary Karthikeya Mishra were also present at the meeting.
