Bokaro: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has completed the detailed project report (DPR) for the construction of two key flyover projects on NH-23, connecting Dhanbad and Bokaro to Ranchi, in the district.
At a review meeting here, NHAI officials said one flyover will come up between Siwandih Moad and Bokaro Steel City station while another will connect Jodhadih Moad to ITI Moad in Chas. Once operational, the flyovers will significantly reduce traffic congestions.
Bokaro deputy commissioner (DC) Ajay Nath Jha, who chaired a review meeting, urged NHAI officials to treat the projects on priority and ensure regular monitoring. “A joint inspection of Siwandih Moad will be done by officials concerned to identify risk factors and prepare corrective proposals,” Jha said after the meeting.
In a bid to improve safety of school buses, officials were directed to enforce Supreme Court guidelines, including verification of drivers’ licences, police background checks and regular health screening.
The administration also ordered strict action against illegal parking, wrong-side driving and roadside encroachments. Petrol pumps were asked not to serve fuel to riders without helmets or seat belts, failing which action may be taken.
