Dr NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) will hold its 29th and 30th annual convocation on June 2 at Thummalapalli Kalaksetram in Vijayawada, where 122 candidates will receive their degrees. Vice Chancellor Dr P Chandrasekhar announced the event on Friday during a media briefing at the university.
Combined Ceremony for Two Academic Years
The convocations for the academic years 2024 and 2025 will be conducted together, with Governor S Abdul Nazeer presiding over the event. Noted cardiologist Dr C Narasimhan, director of Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology services at AIG Hospitals, Hyderabad, will attend as the chief guest.
Honorary Degrees and Medals
The university will confer honorary Doctor of Science (D.Sc) degrees to senior cardiologists Dr C Narasimhan and Dr PC Rath in recognition of their contributions to the medical field. Additionally, meritorious undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD students will be honored with medals and endowment prizes.
During the 29th convocation, 62 gold medals, 21 silver medals, and 18 endowment prizes will be awarded. The 30th convocation will see the presentation of 61 gold medals, 18 silver medals, and 19 endowment prizes.
Research Funding and Digital Center
Dr Chandrasekhar also announced that the university has earmarked Rs 19 crore to promote research activities. Of this, Rs 3 crore will be distributed among 1,000 undergraduate students for research projects, while Rs 10 crore will be provided to 200 postgraduate students and faculty members over two years. Another Rs 6 crore has been allocated for the establishment of a digital medical and data centre (DMDC), which is scheduled to launch next month.
This combined convocation marks a significant milestone for NTRUHS, celebrating academic achievements and fostering future research endeavors.
