Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to visit China from May 23 to May 26, 2026, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The visit aims to reaffirm the enduring strength of the Pakistan-China all-weather strategic partnership.
High-Level Meetings Scheduled
During his four-day visit, Prime Minister Sharif will hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. The discussions are expected to cover a wide range of bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interest.
Strengthening Strategic Cooperation
The visit underscores the deep-rooted ties between Pakistan and China, often described as an 'all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.' Both sides are likely to review progress on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and explore new avenues for cooperation in trade, investment, defense, and people-to-people exchanges.
This milestone anniversary provides an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the past 75 years and chart a course for future collaboration. The two nations have consistently supported each other on core issues, with China backing Pakistan's sovereignty and territorial integrity, while Pakistan stands by China on matters such as Taiwan, Xinjiang, and the South China Sea.
The visit also comes at a time of regional geopolitical shifts, and both countries are expected to coordinate their positions on global governance, multilateralism, and regional stability. Analysts believe that the trip will further cement the strategic trust between Islamabad and Beijing.
Prime Minister Sharif's delegation will include senior ministers and officials, and several agreements and memorandums of understanding are anticipated to be signed during the visit.
