Pakistani Nationals Accidentally Cross Border Near Amritsar

Amritsar: Two Pakistani nationals inadvertently drove across the international border near Amritsar, were detained by the Border Security Force (BSF), and subsequently repatriated after security agencies found no incriminating evidence against them.

Incident Details

Mohammad Saleem, aged 60, and Ameer Nawaz, aged 40, both residents of Lahore, were intercepted by BSF personnel after their vehicle crossed into Indian territory from Pakistan's Kasur sector on Thursday, according to BSF officials. Sources indicate that the two individuals were engaged in supplying books and educational materials to schools and shops in the Kasur area. While distributing these materials in border villages, they inadvertently approached the international boundary.

How the Crossing Occurred

The men allegedly failed to notice the boundary pillar and drove into Indian territory, advancing toward the border fence. Their entry raised immediate suspicion, as it is extremely rare for Pakistani nationals to cross into India using a private vehicle. Typically, those who breach the border are farmers, individuals with mental disabilities, or infiltrators.

Response and Investigation

BSF's Kisan Guards flagged down the vehicle, detained the two men, and handed them over for questioning. Security agencies seized the car and conducted thorough interrogations. Simultaneously, the BSF alerted Pakistani Rangers at the zero line. After the interrogation and verification process yielded nothing suspicious, both men were repatriated to Pakistan.
