PM Modi Embarks on Historic Slovakia Visit After Nice Departure
PM Modi Departs for Slovakia Post Nice Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed from Nice, France, on Sunday for an official visit to Slovakia, underscoring India's dedication to enhancing bilateral ties in trade, investment, automobile, and railway manufacturing sectors. This marks the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia since its independence in 1993.

Historic Diplomatic Engagement

During his stay from June 14 to 16, 2026, PM Modi is scheduled to hold talks with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and meet President Peter Pellegrini. The discussions aim to explore new avenues of cooperation, building on previous high-level exchanges, including President Droupadi Murmu's state visit in April 2025 and President Pellegrini's visit to India for the AI Impact Summit in February 2026.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties

The Ministry of External Affairs stated that the visit reaffirms India's commitment to deepening ties with Slovakia. Key sectors for collaboration include trade, investment, and manufacturing, particularly in automobiles and railways. The visit follows a fruitful leg in Nice, France, where several bilateral outcomes focused on innovation and future technologies were achieved.
