Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday emphasized that India's participation in the upcoming G7 Summit in Evian, France, reflects the confidence of international partners in the country and its rising global stature. He stated that New Delhi will not only represent its own interests but also voice the aspirations of the Global South.
In his departure message, PM Modi noted that this marks the eighth consecutive G7 Summit to which India has been invited. He expressed confidence that his visits to France and Slovakia will reinforce India's deepening engagement with Europe and the G7, showcasing its commitment to expanding partnerships.
Visit to France and Slovakia
At the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, PM Modi will undertake an official visit to France from June 13-14 in Nice, and from June 16-19 in Evian and Paris. During the Slovakia leg, he will hold talks with Prime Minister Fico and explore new avenues of cooperation in trade, investment, and manufacturing. He will also meet President Pellegrini, reaffirming India's commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.
G7 Summit Participation
PM Modi will participate in the G7 Summit on June 16-17 in Evian. He highlighted that India's presence at the G7 reflects the trust placed by partners and India's growing global profile. India will speak for itself and give voice to the Global South's aspirations.
India's participation marks its 13th appearance at the summit as a partner nation, with PM Modi's seventh consecutive attendance. The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that the summit, scheduled from June 15-17 under the French presidency, will focus on geopolitical crises, economic cooperation, artificial intelligence, and developmental partnerships.
India is set to contribute to discussions on the Middle East situation and global economic imbalances on the second day. New Delhi's involvement in outreach sessions underscores its growing role in shaping international discourse.
Evian, which last hosted the G8 in 2003 and the G7 in 2019, will once again become a center for global diplomacy as leaders address economic uncertainty and geopolitical challenges.
