Rain, Hailstorms Hit Himachal; Temperatures Below Normal

Kullu: Light to moderate rain, accompanied by hailstorms in parts of Shimla district, lashed several areas of Himachal Pradesh on Monday, keeping temperatures below normal across the state. The weather department has forecast more rain and thunderstorm activity in parts of the state till June 21.

Rain and Hailstorm Activity

Rain was reported from parts of Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla and Solan districts, while some areas in Shimla district witnessed hailstorms. According to the Meteorological Centre, Shimla, the average maximum temperature remained 1.5°C below normal.

Temperature Records

Chamba recorded a maximum temperature of 30.5°C (7.6°C below normal), and Kangra's maximum temperature was 32°C — 6.5°C below normal. At 35.6°C (1.6°C below normal), Una recorded the highest maximum temperature, while Keylong recorded the lowest maximum temperature of 19.6°C (a drop of 3.4°C below normal).

Keylong also recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 4.4°C in the state on Monday. Among the tourist destinations, Shimla and Manali recorded maximum temperatures of 24.4°C each, and Dharamshala recorded 30°C.
