Saudia’s flyadeal Launches India Ops, Direct Hyderabad-Riyadh Flight

Saudia's low-cost carrier flyadeal has officially launched its India operations, commencing a direct daily flight between Hyderabad and Riyadh. The inaugural flight marks a significant milestone in strengthening aviation ties between India and Saudi Arabia, while further elevating Hyderabad's status as a growing international aviation hub.

Direct Daily Service Begins

The new route operates daily, connecting Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad with King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. This direct service eliminates the need for connecting flights, reducing travel time and offering greater convenience for passengers traveling between the two cities. The flight is operated using flyadeal's modern Airbus A320neo aircraft, configured with 186 seats in a single-class layout.

Boosting Hyderabad Airport's Global Connectivity

The launch of this route is a strategic addition to Hyderabad Airport's network, which now serves over 70 international destinations. According to GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL), the new service is expected to cater to the growing demand for travel between South India and Saudi Arabia, particularly for business, tourism, and pilgrimage purposes. Hyderabad has a significant diaspora in Saudi Arabia, and the direct flight will facilitate easier movement for professionals and families.

Strengthening India-Saudi Arabia Ties

This development aligns with the broader enhancement of bilateral relations between India and Saudi Arabia. The two nations have been deepening economic and cultural ties, with air connectivity playing a crucial role. Saudi Arabia is a key partner in India's Vision 2030 and the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC). The new flyadeal service is expected to boost trade, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.

flyadeal's Expansion Strategy

flyadeal, a subsidiary of Saudia Group, has been rapidly expanding its network across the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia. The airline's entry into the Indian market is part of its broader strategy to tap into high-demand routes. According to the airline, Hyderabad was chosen due to its strong economic growth and large expatriate community. The airline plans to monitor demand and potentially add more Indian cities to its network in the future.

Impact on Passengers and Economy

Passengers will benefit from competitive fares and a seamless travel experience. The direct flight is expected to reduce travel time by several hours compared to connecting services via other Gulf hubs. Economically, the route will enhance cargo connectivity, supporting trade in sectors like pharmaceuticals, textiles, and IT services, which are strong in Hyderabad. The Hyderabad-Riyadh route is projected to carry over 100,000 passengers annually in its first year, according to industry estimates.

"We are delighted to launch our India operations with this direct flight from Hyderabad to Riyadh," said a flyadeal spokesperson. "This route reflects our commitment to providing affordable and efficient travel options while strengthening the bonds between India and Saudi Arabia."

The launch ceremony at Hyderabad Airport was attended by officials from GHIAL, flyadeal, and representatives from the Saudi Consulate. The event highlighted the growing collaboration between the two countries in the aviation sector.
