Union Minister V Somanna flagged off the Solapur-Hassan Express with a new stop at Channarayapatna railway station on Monday. The new halt aims to improve connectivity for passengers in the region.
Enhanced Railway Infrastructure
Speaking at the event, Somanna highlighted the significant progress in railway safety and infrastructure. 'Around 13,800 level crossing gates have been eliminated across the country in the last 10 years by constructing underpasses or over bridges,' he said. This initiative has reduced accidents and improved train speeds.
Benefits for Passengers
The Solapur-Hassan Express, which runs daily, will now serve travellers from Channarayapatna, a town in Hassan district. The new stop is expected to boost local economic activity and provide easier access to major cities like Solapur and Hassan.
Somanna also emphasized the government's commitment to expanding rail networks in Karnataka. 'We are working to ensure every district has better rail connectivity,' he added.
The event was attended by senior railway officials and local representatives. The minister urged passengers to cooperate with railway safety measures and make use of the improved facilities.
