Southwest Monsoon Likely to Reach Andaman Sea by Week End

Kochi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that the southwest monsoon is likely to arrive in parts of the southern Bay of Bengal, the Andaman Sea, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands by the end of this week. A low-pressure area currently persists over the southwest Bay of Bengal, and the central meteorological department predicts that this system may intensify further over the next 48 hours.

Current Weather Systems

An upper air cyclonic circulation is present over southern Karnataka at an altitude of 5.8 kilometers above sea level. This circulation is contributing to the prevailing weather conditions in the region.

Heavy Rainfall Warning for Kerala

The IMD has warned that Kerala may receive isolated heavy rainfall from Thursday through Saturday. The weather agency has also forecast isolated thunderstorms accompanied by rain and lightning, along with strong winds gusting between 30 and 50 kilometers per hour during this period.

On Thursday, heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasargod districts. On Friday, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Wayanad may receive heavy rains.
