A tragic road accident in Chatra district claimed the life of a 29-year-old motorcyclist late Friday night. The incident occurred in the Hunterganj police station area, where a speeding truck collided with the victim's bike near the Bhondal Naginadaha bridge on the Chatra-Dobhi Main Road.
Victim Identified
The deceased has been identified as Roshan Gupta, a resident of Hunterganj market. According to police, Roshan was returning home after refuelling his motorcycle when the accident took place around 11 pm. A speeding truck coming from the opposite direction struck him, causing fatal injuries. He died on the spot.
Driver Flees Scene
After the collision, the truck driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the location. Local residents alerted the police, who arrived promptly at the scene. Prabhat Kumar, the officer-in-charge of Hunterganj police station, stated, "Efforts are on to trace the absconding truck driver and identify the vehicle."
Investigation Underway
The police have launched a search operation to locate the driver and the truck involved. Preliminary investigations suggest that the truck was speeding and may have lost control before hitting the motorcycle. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas and questioning witnesses to gather more information.
This incident has once again highlighted the dangers of reckless driving on the roads of Chatra. Locals have expressed concerns over the frequent accidents on this stretch, urging authorities to take stricter measures to ensure road safety.
