A passenger stepladder was blown into a parked Air India aircraft during a sudden spell of strong winds and rain at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport on Sunday evening. The incident occurred near Terminal 2, where the stepladder, used for boarding and deboarding operations, was displaced by strong winds and rolled towards an Air India aircraft parked at Bay 206. Visuals from the airport showed the equipment colliding with the aircraft amid stormy conditions.
Three Aircraft Damaged
The weather disruption caused ground support equipment to be blown into three parked Air India aircraft, damaging them and forcing them out of operation. Airport and airline sources stated that there had been no prior storm or severe weather warning before the sudden deterioration in weather conditions. No injuries were reported in the incidents.
