Tibetans Celebrate Panchen Lama's 37th Birthday in Mysuru

Mysuru: Tibetans-in-exile gathered to celebrate the 37th birthday of the 11th Panchen Lama, Jetsun Tenzin Gedun Yeshe Trinley Phuntsok Palzangpo (also known as Gedhun Choekyi Nyima), at the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in the Bylakuppe Tibetan camp, located in Periyapatna taluk of Mysuru district.

Dignitaries in Attendance

The event was attended by several prominent figures from the Tibetan government-in-exile, including Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile; Yeshe Wangmo, Chief Justice of the Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission; and Lobsang Jinpa, cabinet secretary from the office of the Dalai Lama. Senior officials of the monastery, along with regional and settlement representatives from Bylakuppe, members of various monasteries and NGOs, and members of the Tibetan community also participated.

Formal Ceremony

During the formal ceremony, the Abbot Rinpoche of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery read an official statement to mark the occasion, highlighting the significance of the day for the Tibetan community.

Cultural Performances

The programme concluded with vibrant cultural performances, including traditional Tibetan songs and dances, presented by students and members of the local community, adding a festive spirit to the celebration.
