Tragic Accident on Lucknow-Agra Expressway Claims Two Lives
In a devastating incident early Monday, a truck driver and his helper lost their lives on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in Unnao's Auras police station area. The victims had stepped out of their vehicle to inspect the tyre pressure when another truck crashed into them from behind.
According to police officials, the maize-laden truck was parked on the roadside when the driver, identified as Rais, a resident of Bijnor, along with his helper Zainul, got down to check the tyres. At that moment, a second truck approaching from the Lucknow side allegedly went out of control and collided with the stationary vehicle.
Circle officer Bangarmau Santosh Singh confirmed that both injured individuals were rushed to the Community Health Centre in Auras, where doctors declared them dead upon arrival.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver of the second truck, identified as Rahmat Khan from Alwar, Rajasthan, may have dozed off, leading to a loss of control. Authorities are continuing their probe into the incident.
This tragic event highlights the dangers faced by truck drivers and helpers on highways, often due to fatigue and lack of proper rest facilities. The expressway, a crucial link between Lucknow and Agra, has witnessed several accidents in the past.
Local residents have called for better enforcement of traffic rules and improved safety measures on the expressway to prevent such incidents in the future.
