BHUBANESWAR: Two empty train rakes came face-to-face on the same track near the Jharpada bridge area in Bhubaneswar on Thursday, railway officials said. However, the railways confirmed that there was no casualty or disruption to train services.
Timely Intervention Prevents Accident
A railway statement noted, "Timely intervention reportedly prevented an accident. No injuries reported." Railway officials and technical staff promptly attended the site and took necessary measures to secure the rolling stock and assess the situation, according to an official statement issued by the East Coast Railways (ECoR).
No Impact on Train Operations
Train operations on the main line and passenger services remain unaffected, the statement added. The ECoR explained that one empty train rake was traveling from Bhubaneswar to the Mancheswar coach maintenance depot, while the other was heading towards Bhubaneswar from the same depot on the same route.
Incident During Shunting Operation
The incident took place at Bhubaneswar during a shunting operation involving an empty train rake that was being moved for scheduled maintenance activities. It said that during the slow-speed shunting movement, the empty rake came into close proximity with another stationary empty rake. Both rakes were empty at the time of the incident, it said.
