Hazaribag Woman Delivers Twins in E-Rickshaw in Koderma, One Baby Dies Later
In a tragic incident, a woman from Hazaribag district gave birth to twin babies in an e-rickshaw while being transported to a hospital in Koderma. One of the newborns succumbed to death later due to complications.
The incident occurred on Tuesday when the woman, identified as 25-year-old Sita Devi, went into labor suddenly at her home in the Bishnugarh area of Hazaribag. Her family members immediately arranged an e-rickshaw to rush her to the nearest hospital, which was located in Koderma district, about 20 kilometers away.
However, before reaching the hospital, Sita Devi delivered twin babies inside the e-rickshaw on the way. The driver and family members quickly informed the hospital staff, who arrived at the scene and provided initial medical assistance. Both newborns were then taken to the hospital for further treatment.
According to doctors, one of the twins was in critical condition due to premature birth and lack of immediate medical care. Despite efforts to save the infant, the baby died a few hours later. The other twin and the mother are reported to be stable and under observation.
Local authorities have expressed grief over the incident and have assured necessary support to the family. The incident highlights the challenges faced by rural communities in accessing timely healthcare, especially for emergency obstetric care.
