Bhubaneswar: In a strategic move to align skill development with global trade opportunities, the World Skill Centre (WSC), Bhubaneswar, and the World Trade Centre (WTC), Bhubaneswar, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Friday. The partnership aims to enhance the global employability of Odisha’s youth by embedding international industry linkages into training programmes.
Key Objectives of the MOU
The initiative seeks to create a strong convergence between the skill ecosystem and evolving global market demands. It will focus on facilitating international internships and apprenticeships, developing export-oriented skill modules, and enabling joint certification programmes and global placement opportunities. The collaboration will also involve knowledge-sharing platforms and industry interactions to familiarise trainees with international trade practices.
Official Statements
On the occasion, WTC Bhubaneswar regional director A Rajyalaxmi highlighted the importance of skilled human capital in a globally connected economy. She noted that the collaboration would provide international exposure, strengthen industry engagement, and open access to overseas markets for emerging talent.
Expected Impact
Officials stated that the initiative is expected to strengthen Odisha’s position as a hub for globally competitive skilled talent while bridging the gap between industry requirements and workforce capabilities. The MOU was signed on the WSC campus, marking a significant step towards internationalising skill development in the region.
