Ahmedabad residents felt a dramatic shift in weather conditions this week. On Thursday, the city shivered as minimum temperatures dropped below 12 degrees Celsius. This chill matched a broader trend across Gujarat, where many cities and towns recorded their lowest minimum temperatures of the season.
Friday Brings a Sharp Warm-Up
The mercury climbed sharply on Friday, bringing noticeable relief. Ahmedabad's minimum temperature settled at 14.5 degrees Celsius. This reading was 2.6 degrees above the normal average for this time of year. The maximum temperature also rose significantly, reaching 30.6 degrees Celsius. This high mark exceeded the seasonal average by a full 3 degrees.
IMD Forecast for the Weekend
The India Meteorological Department provided its latest predictions. According to the IMD, Ahmedabad's minimum temperature will likely hover around 15 degrees Celsius on Saturday. The forecast for the entire state of Gujarat indicates a further temperature rise of 2 to 3 degrees on the same day. After this increase, no major changes in temperature are expected in the immediate future.
Cold Spots Across Gujarat
While temperatures rose in many areas, a few locations remained notably chilly. Across the entire state, only four cities and towns recorded minimum temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius. Keshod was the coldest spot, with the mercury dropping to 8.1 degrees. Kandla followed closely at 8.6 degrees. Naliya recorded a minimum of 9.2 degrees, and Amreli saw 9.4 degrees.
This weather pattern highlights the variable conditions experienced across Gujarat. The sudden warmth in Ahmedabad contrasts with the persistent cold in these few towns, marking a distinct seasonal transition.
