Ahmedabad Sees Significant Temperature Rise Above Seasonal Norms
On Thursday, Ahmedabad recorded temperatures well above the expected seasonal averages, with both maximum and minimum readings showing notable increases. The minimum temperature settled at 18.6°C, which is a substantial 4.6 degrees higher than the normal level for this time of year. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature reached 32.7°C, marking a 2.5-degree rise above the typical benchmark.
IMD Forecast Indicates Continued Warm Conditions
According to the latest forecast released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there is little relief in sight for residents. The minimum temperature in Ahmedabad is likely to hover around 19°C on Friday, suggesting that the warmer-than-usual pattern will persist. The IMD has also indicated that no major changes in minimum temperatures are expected across the state of Gujarat in the coming days.
Statewide Temperature Trends Highlight Unusual Warmth
Across Gujarat, minimum temperatures remained elevated, generally staying above 15°C. An exception was noted in Keshod, where the minimum dipped to 14°C. In Surat, the maximum temperature soared to 35.8°C, a particularly high reading considering that the first half of February is still ongoing. This early spike in temperatures underscores the unusual climatic conditions affecting the region.
The persistent above-normal temperatures raise concerns about potential impacts on agriculture, water resources, and daily life. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely as residents brace for continued warmth in what is typically a cooler part of the year.
