Alwar plants 5 lakh saplings on World Environment Day

The Alwar district administration launched a large-scale plantation campaign on World Environment Day, Friday, at the Sashastra Suraksha Bal (SSB) Recruit Training Centre in Maujpur village. The initiative was inaugurated by Collector Artika Shukla, DFO Rajendra Hudda, and SSB DIG Sanjeev Yadav, who planted trees at the centre to mark the beginning.

Massive Plantation Target

Officials revealed that approximately 20,000 trees have already been planted at the SSB training centre. As part of a district-wide drive, the administration and forest department planted around 5 lakh saplings on Friday alone. Under this year's campaign, the SSB centre alone aims to plant 1 lakh trees.

Innovative Water Conservation Methods

To ensure the saplings survive the intense heat, the plantations are being watered using a drip method that utilises plastic waste bottles. This arrangement prevents the saplings from drying up. Additionally, wastewater is being recycled and supplied to the plants, promoting sustainability.

During the event, Collector Shukla emphasised that villagers, institutions, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) are being engaged in colonies across cities, towns, and villages to boost plantation efforts throughout the district. The campaign aims to enhance green cover and environmental awareness.
