Winter Makes a Comeback in Bhopal

Residents of Bhopal woke up to a surprising chill in the air as the city experienced a significant drop in overnight temperatures, breaking a recent pattern of unusually warm nights that had many wondering if winter was ending early.

The mercury plunged by four degrees Celsius, settling at 11 degrees Celsius from the previous night's 15 degrees Celsius. This sudden change has brought back the winter atmosphere that had seemed to be retreating in recent days.

Meteorological Department's Forecast

According to the regional meteorological centre, this colder weather pattern is expected to continue and possibly intensify over the next couple of days. The weather experts have confirmed that the chill is likely to persist before temperatures begin their gradual climb upward.

The Met office stated that after the next two days, temperatures may inch marginally upwards. However, they emphasized that any dip in mercury over the immediate two-day period will only be marginal, while eastern Madhya Pradesh can expect temperatures to gradually increase thereafter.

Temperature Readings and Records

Friday's weather data revealed interesting patterns in the region's climate:

Bhopal recorded a daytime temperature of 25.6 degrees Celsius, which is 3 degrees below the normal seasonal average. The night temperature stood at 11.0 degrees Celsius, marking 2 degrees below the normal mark for this time of year.

The distinction of the coldest spot in the region went to Kalyanpur in Shahdol district, which recorded the lowest temperature of 6.1 degrees Celsius on Friday.

Looking ahead to Saturday, the meteorological department predicts clear skies for Bhopal once the morning fog dissipates. The forecast indicates daytime temperatures around 26 degrees Celsius and nighttime temperatures settling at approximately 11 degrees Celsius.

This weather fluctuation serves as a reminder that winter still has its grip on central India, despite the recent warmer nights that had residents questioning the season's persistence.
