HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh has launched a massive emergency response operation as severe cyclonic storm Mocha intensifies over the Bay of Bengal, with the state government establishing 800 relief camps across vulnerable coastal districts.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan are personally overseeing the crisis management efforts, conducting continuous reviews of the preparedness measures and coordinating with disaster response teams.
Emergency Measures Activated
The state administration has gone into high alert mode, implementing comprehensive safety protocols:
- 800 fully-equipped relief camps established in strategic locations
- Large-scale evacuation operations underway in low-lying coastal areas
- Disaster response teams positioned across vulnerable districts
- Emergency supplies including food, water, and medical aid pre-positioned
- 24/7 control rooms activated to monitor the situation
Leadership in Crisis Mode
CM Naidu emphasized the government's proactive approach, stating that "every possible measure is being taken to ensure public safety." The Chief Minister has been conducting back-to-back review meetings with district collectors and disaster management authorities.
Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan has been actively involved in ground-level coordination, ensuring that relief measures reach the most vulnerable communities. "Our priority is zero casualties and minimal damage to property," he affirmed during an emergency briefing.
Coastal Districts on High Alert
The cyclonic storm has put several coastal districts including Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, and Krishna on high alert. Fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing into sea, while residents in low-lying areas are being relocated to safer ground.
The India Meteorological Department has been providing regular updates to the state government, enabling precise deployment of resources and timely evacuation decisions.
Preparedness Pays Off
Andhra Pradesh's extensive experience in handling cyclonic storms has enabled a swift and organized response. The state's disaster management infrastructure, refined through previous cyclone experiences, is being put to the test once again as Mocha approaches the coastline.
