Gurgaon Weather Defies Forecast: Clear Skies Push Temperatures Up by 3°C
Gurgaon Clear Skies Push Temperatures Up 3°C Despite Rain Alert

Gurgaon Weather Defies Rainfall Forecast, Temperatures Spike Unexpectedly

Despite predictions of light to moderate rainfall, Gurgaon witnessed clear skies on Sunday, leading to a significant increase in temperatures across the city. The unexpected weather pattern resulted in the maximum temperature climbing by nearly three degrees Celsius within a 24-hour period.

Temperature Records Show Notable Increase

On Sunday, Gurgaon recorded a maximum temperature of 35°C, a substantial jump from Saturday's 32.3°C. The minimum temperature also saw a sharp rise, increasing by four degrees to reach 21.2°C compared to the previous day's 16.5°C.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has maintained its yellow alert for Monday, forecasting:

  • Light to moderate rainfall
  • Thunderstorms and lightning
  • Gusty winds with speeds reaching 40–60 km/hour

Meteorologists suggest this expected weather activity could provide temporary relief from the rising heat that residents experienced over the weekend.

Complex Weather Systems Influence Regional Conditions

Weather experts attribute the current atmospheric conditions to multiple weather systems affecting the region. According to IMD reports, several factors are contributing to the unpredictable weather patterns:

  1. A western disturbance persists as an upper air cyclonic circulation over north Iran and the adjacent Caspian Sea region
  2. This system extends across various atmospheric levels, influencing weather across northern India
  3. An additional upper air cyclonic circulation over northwest Rajasthan continues to impact regional weather
  4. A trough extending toward central parts of north Madhya Pradesh further complicates the weather scenario

Temperature Forecast and Regional Weather Patterns

The IMD predicts that maximum temperatures across the state are likely to decrease gradually by 2–4°C until March 30. However, this relief may be short-lived, as temperatures are expected to rise again by 3–5°C from March 30 through April 2.

In neighboring Haryana, several areas including Chandigarh, Karnal, Jind, and Ambala recorded scattered light rainfall. Data analysis reveals that the average maximum temperature across the state increased marginally by 0.4°C compared to the previous day, remaining close to normal seasonal levels.

The unexpected clear skies and temperature spike in Gurgaon highlight the complexity of weather forecasting in the region, where multiple atmospheric systems interact to create unpredictable conditions.
