Gurgaon Heatwave Alert: IMD Predicts Temperature Rise

Gurgaon Weather Update: Rising Temperatures and Dry Conditions Forecast

On Saturday, Gurgaon witnessed clear skies and bright sunshine, contributing to warm conditions across the city. The maximum temperature settled at 34.1°C, while the minimum was recorded at 16.2°C. Data from an alternative monitoring station at NorthCap University indicated slightly higher readings, with the maximum touching 35.8°C and the minimum at 17.8°C.

IMD Predicts Continued Heat with No Immediate Relief

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), any immediate respite from the heat is unlikely. The forecast anticipates a gradual rise of 2-3°C in maximum temperatures over the next five days. Daytime temperatures are expected to remain 5-8°C above normal for the upcoming two days throughout the state.

The weather department highlighted that mostly dry conditions are likely to prevail across Haryana over the next five days. "Dry conditions are expected to lead to a gradual increase in both maximum and minimum temperatures," stated IMD officials. During this period, maximum temperatures in the southern and western parts of the state may range between 34°C and 37°C, while minimum temperatures could stay between 16°C and 21°C.

Meteorological Factors Influencing Weather Patterns

Meteorologists noted an upper-air cyclonic circulation currently positioned over Haryana and neighboring regions in the lower tropospheric levels. Simultaneously, a fresh western disturbance, identified as a trough in the middle-level westerlies, is projected to affect the western Himalayan region starting March 9. However, its impact is largely expected to be confined to the hills, offering minimal relief to the plains.

Health Advisory Issued Amid Rising Temperatures

In response to the escalating temperatures, the weather department has issued a health advisory urging residents to take necessary precautions. Key recommendations include:

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours.
  • Stay hydrated by drinking ample fluids.
  • Implement measures to prevent heat-related discomfort and illnesses.

For Sunday, the forecast indicates partly cloudy skies, with maximum and minimum temperatures likely to hover around 33°C and 18°C, respectively. Residents are advised to monitor updates and adhere to safety guidelines as the heatwave conditions persist.
