Gurgaon Weather Update: IMD Forecasts Rainfall and Temperature Fluctuations
Gurgaon witnessed a shift in weather conditions on Thursday, starting with clear skies in the morning that gradually turned partly cloudy by the afternoon. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city is expected to remain largely dry over the next two days, but rainfall is likely to commence on Sunday, bringing significant changes to the local climate.
Temperature Trends and IMD Observations
At the Gurgaon KVK station, the minimum temperature recorded on Thursday was 17.5°C, while the maximum reached 33.4°C. This marks an increase from the previous day's readings of 15.4°C and 32.2°C, respectively. Similarly, at The NorthCap University station, the minimum temperature rose to 19.5°C from 16.2°C on Wednesday, with the maximum temperature climbing to 35°C.
Across Haryana, the average maximum temperature increased by 1°C, standing 1.8°C above the normal seasonal level. The average minimum temperature saw a more pronounced rise of 2.4°C, which is 2.7°C higher than the typical seasonal average, as reported by the IMD.
Weather Systems Influencing Northwest India
The IMD has identified multiple weather systems currently affecting northwest India. A western disturbance is present as a trough in the middle tropospheric westerlies, and an upper air cyclonic circulation over west Rajasthan and adjoining central Pakistan is also impacting the region. These systems are contributing to the observed temperature increases and upcoming weather changes.
Another western disturbance is anticipated to affect northwest India starting from the night of March 28, potentially leading to further rainfall. The IMD has forecast light to moderate rain at isolated places between March 26 and 28, with additional precipitation expected on March 31. A more widespread rainfall event is likely on March 29 and 30, after which conditions are predicted to turn dry.
Expected Weather Conditions and Precautions
The anticipated rainfall may be accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds with speeds ranging from 40 to 50 kmph, potentially increasing to 60 kmph. The IMD has indicated that no significant change in maximum temperatures is expected over the next two days. However, following the rainfall, a drop of 3 to 4°C in maximum temperatures is likely, providing some relief from the recent warmth.
Residents of Gurgaon and surrounding areas in Haryana are advised to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and take necessary precautions during the predicted rainfall and windy conditions. The IMD continues to monitor the situation closely, providing regular updates to ensure public safety and preparedness.
