Bhubaneswar: A severe heatwave continued to grip western Odisha on Sunday, with maximum temperatures hovering around 45 degrees Celsius in five towns. According to the India Meteorological Department, Titlagarh emerged as the hottest location in the state, recording a scorching 45.8 degrees Celsius. It was followed closely by Boudh at 45.6 degrees Celsius, Bhawanipatna at 45.4 degrees Celsius, Sambalpur at 45.3 degrees Celsius, and Sonepur at 45.2 degrees Celsius.
Temperature Distribution Across the State
In addition to these five towns, as many as 15 places recorded maximum temperatures between 40 and 44 degrees Celsius. The state capital, Bhubaneswar, experienced a relatively milder maximum temperature of 38.4 degrees Celsius. The IMD has forecast that the heatwave conditions, along with warm nights and hot and humid weather, will persist in several districts at least until May 28. Thunderstorms are also expected in some pockets during this period.
