IMD Forecasts Widespread Rain and Thunderstorms in Jharkhand

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms across most parts of Jharkhand on Tuesday. An official from the weather office confirmed the forecast, highlighting significant weather activity expected in the region.

Alert Levels Issued for Different Districts

IMD has issued an 'orange' alert, advising residents to be prepared, in five northeastern districts of Jharkhand: Bokaro, Dhanbad, Jamtara, Dumka, and Pakur. This alert is specifically for hailstorms, indicating a higher level of risk. Meanwhile, a 'yellow' alert, urging people to stay updated, has been sounded for the remaining 19 districts, primarily for thunderstorms.

In the five districts under the orange alert, light to moderate rain is expected, along with gusty winds reaching speeds of 50-60 kmph, thunderstorms, lightning, and hailstorms. For the other districts, wind speeds are forecast to be up to 40-50 kmph, with similar conditions of rain and thunderstorms.

Extended Forecast for Southern and Central Districts

The IMD has also provided an extended weather outlook for the southern and central districts of Jharkhand. Light rain accompanied by gusty winds of 30-40 kmph, thunderstorms, and lightning is likely to occur on April 2 and April 3. This suggests a continuation of unsettled weather patterns in these areas over the next couple of days.

Quote from Meteorological Official

Abhishek Anand, Deputy Director of the Ranchi Meteorological Centre, stated, "The sky will remain partly overcast till April 3. There is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by hailstorms in the five north-eastern districts on Tuesday. On Wednesday, dry weather conditions will prevail."

Temperature Fluctuations Expected

Anand further elaborated on temperature trends, noting, "Over the next 24 hours, the maximum temperature is likely to increase by up to 2 degrees Celsius; thereafter, in the subsequent 24 hours, it will decline by up to 2 to 3 degrees Celsius." This indicates a brief warm spell followed by a cooling period, which could impact local conditions and activities.
