The IMD yellow alert covers six districts including Kanniyakumari, Ramanathapuram, Tiruppur, Tenkasi, Thoothukkudi and Tirunelveli. These areas are expected to experience light rainfall as per the latest weather forecast. The capital city Chennai is also likely to see light rain throughout the day, according to weather officials.

Weather Impact and Precautions

Meteorological authorities have warned about possible waterlogging in some low-lying areas and indicated that traffic movement might be affected in several locations. The weather agency has cautioned residents to stay updated with the latest forecasts and plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience.

Extended Rainfall Forecast

In its comprehensive weather outlook, the IMD has predicted that Tamil Nadu, Kerala and nearby islands will experience widespread rainfall over the coming days. Specific dates for expected rainfall in Tamil Nadu include November 12, 17 and 18 when light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is likely. Meanwhile, Kerala and Mahe are anticipated to receive similar weather conditions on November 12 and 13.

The forecast also indicates that Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema could witness heavy showers on November 17 and 18. This weather pattern suggests an active monsoon period across southern India, with multiple states preparing for significant rainfall activity in the second week of November.
