Telangana Shivers: Single-Digit Temperatures Grip Several Districts
Intense Cold Wave Continues Across Telangana

An intense cold wave continues to tighten its grip over Telangana, with multiple districts across the state recording bone-chilling single-digit minimum temperatures. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that these severe cold conditions are likely to persist for the next several days, affecting daily life.

Northern and Central Districts Bear the Brunt

According to the latest temperature data and weather forecasts, the northern and central regions of Telangana remain the coldest. Districts including Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Sangareddy, Adilabad, Rangareddy, Vikarabad, and Kamareddy have already reported night temperatures dipping below 10 degrees Celsius. The interior parts of the state are experiencing a significant deviation from seasonal norms, with minimum temperatures registering 3 to 4 degrees Celsius below the average.

Hyderabad Feels the Chill

The state capital, Hyderabad, is also witnessing a notable drop in mercury levels during the night. In recent nights, several peripheral and suburban localities have recorded single-digit readings. Areas on the outskirts such as Serilingampally, Malkajgiri, Alwal, and Rajendranagar have reported particularly lower temperatures. Meanwhile, the core areas within the city are experiencing slightly milder, yet cold, nights with minimum temperatures hovering between 11 and 13 degrees Celsius.

Within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, most city circles are expected to see low night temperatures continuing for the next three days. The IMD has suggested a slight rise in minimum temperatures may occur between December 16 and 18, but this will not bring significant relief as cold conditions will largely continue.

Clear Skies with Misty Mornings Ahead

The IMD's forecast for Telangana predicts mainly clear skies. However, residents should brace for mist or hazy conditions during the night and early morning hours. In a more severe warning, the weather office has stated that in isolated pockets, minimum temperatures may fall below five degrees Celsius for at least the next three days. This underscores the ongoing intensity of the winter spell across the region.

The persistent cold wave serves as a stark reminder of the winter's peak, urging citizens, especially the vulnerable, to take necessary precautions against the harsh weather.
