Jharkhand Heatwave Alert: Yellow Warning for Districts

Jharkhand Battles Intense Heatwave Conditions Across Multiple Districts

Heatwave-like conditions have taken hold in several districts of Jharkhand, with the Ranchi Meteorological Office confirming severe weather patterns on Saturday. The affected areas include Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Latehar, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts, where residents are experiencing unusually high temperatures.

Official Weather Warnings and Forecast

The Met office has issued a yellow warning for heatwave conditions in these districts, which remains in effect for Sunday. According to Abhishek Anand, Deputy Director of the Ranchi Met office, maximum temperatures are currently running 4 to 5 degrees Celsius above normal seasonal averages.

"Conditions, however, may change during the second half of Sunday as there is a possibility of cloud cover," Anand stated, offering some hope for relief from the intense heat.

Thunderstorm and Wind Predictions

While the heatwave persists in certain districts, weather officials anticipate significant changes across the state. A deep trough formation and moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal are expected to trigger thunderstorms and lightning in various locations.

Anand explained: "Formation of a deep trough and incursion of moisture from the Bay of Bengal will lead to thunderstorms and lightning in various places across the state. During thunderstorms, wind speeds can be around 40 kmph and reach up to 70 kmph."

The weather office has issued a yellow warning for gusty winds (40-50 kmph) and thunderstorms in isolated places across 20 districts, excluding Garhwa, Chatra, Latehar, and Palamu.

Recent Temperature Records and Extended Forecast

Temperature data from the past 24 hours reveals the severity of current conditions. Seraikela recorded the highest maximum temperature of 39.9°C, while Gumla experienced the lowest temperature at 13.1°C. Ranchi itself recorded a maximum of 34.7°C and a minimum of 17.3°C.

Looking ahead to Monday, the weather office predicts thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (50-60 kmph gusting up to 70 kmph) at isolated places over eastern and adjoining central parts of Jharkhand. An orange warning has been issued for 17 districts in response to these anticipated conditions.

For Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Latehar, Lohardaga, Gumla, and Simdega districts, the Met office has issued a yellow warning specifically for thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) at isolated places.

Extended Weather Outlook

The weather disturbances are expected to continue through midweek. For Tuesday, a yellow warning remains in place for thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) at isolated places across the entire state.

A similar warning has been issued for Wednesday, though it excludes Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, and Latehar districts from the alert. Residents across Jharkhand are advised to stay updated with official weather bulletins and take necessary precautions during this period of volatile weather conditions.
