Officials reported peaceful demonstrations across several areas in Kashmir on Friday. These rallies expressed support for Iran's Islamic Republic. They occurred after congregational prayers ended.
Protests Unfold in Multiple Locations
Shia-dominated regions witnessed significant gatherings. Srinagar, Pulwama, and Budgam all saw protesters take to the streets. The demonstrators raised loud slogans. They voiced strong support for Iran. They also condemned the United States and Israel.
Srinagar Rallies Draw Participants
In Srinagar, crowds assembled near Nehru Park at Hassanabad. Another gathering formed at Gund Hassi Bhat. Participants carried placards and banners. Their messages showed solidarity with Iran and its Supreme Leader, Syed Ali Khamenei. They denounced what they called external pressure and interference in Iranian affairs.
Central and South Kashmir Join In
Similar scenes played out in Budgam at Main Chowk. In Pulwama district, the Gangoo area also hosted a protest. All events remained completely peaceful according to local authorities.
Leaders Voice Strong Condemnation
A Shia leader addressed reporters in Pulwama. He accused the US and Israel, along with their allies, of committing atrocities against Muslims worldwide. He specifically mentioned Mossad and CIA agents. He claimed these agents are attacking security forces and innocent people within Iran.
The leader stated a clear purpose for the rallies. He said, "We came together to protest against the atrocities of America and Israel." He emphasized that Kashmiri people want to send a message. They aim to tell the US and Israel that Muslims globally stand ready to support their brothers.
Global Context of the Demonstrations
These local protests happened against a tense international backdrop. On Thursday, activists released a grim toll. They claimed Iranian authorities have killed at least 2,637 people during a recent crackdown. This followed nationwide protests that challenged the country's theocratic system. Iran had also cut itself off from the world for a week prior.
Simultaneously, the United States has issued threats. US officials have suggested potential military intervention in Iran. This adds another layer of tension to the regional dynamics.
The Kashmir demonstrations, therefore, represent a localized response to these escalating global conflicts. They highlight the interconnected nature of political and religious solidarity across borders.
