Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena on Friday inaugurated five electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in Leh and surrounding regions, marking a significant milestone in the Union Territory's journey toward a carbon-neutral future.
Charging Stations Located Across Key Areas
The newly installed charging stations are situated at the main bus stand in Leh, Tia Rong, Solar Colony, Chuchot Shamma, and Khaltsi. These locations were chosen to provide convenient access for EV users and to encourage the adoption of electric mobility in the region.
According to an official statement, the initiative aligns with the central government's push for sustainable transportation and Ladakh's own goal of becoming carbon neutral. The stations are expected to serve both private EV owners and public transport vehicles, reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
