A minor fire incident at the Kasu Brahmananda Reddy (KBR) National Park in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, on Saturday evening caused brief concern among local residents and morning walkers, especially given ongoing infrastructure projects nearby. Officials confirmed that no injuries occurred.
Details of the Incident
According to local eyewitnesses, flames were observed around 8 pm near a corner of the park, close to the area where flyover and underpass construction is underway. With summer temperatures remaining extremely high, there were initial fears that the blaze could spread into the park's green cover.
Rapid Response by Fire Services
Fire officials from the Punjagutta Fire Station clarified that the incident was minor. An official stated, “The call was received around 8 pm. Some dry leaves piled up in one corner caught fire. The blaze was extinguished within 10 minutes before it could spread.”
Officials added that the leaves had reportedly been swept and piled earlier by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) sanitation workers. A gardener at the park noticed the smoke and acted swiftly along with firefighters to control the flames.
Context and Safety Measures
The incident highlights the importance of vigilance during dry and hot conditions, especially in areas with accumulated dry vegetation. The swift action by the gardener and fire personnel prevented any escalation. Authorities have urged visitors and workers to remain cautious and report any signs of fire immediately.
