According to a handout released after the meeting, the government emphasized that while adequate stocks of petroleum products are currently available to meet requirements, the unstable situation in the Middle East could severely impact future fuel supplies. The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) stated that arrangements are underway to procure additional supplies, but conservation remains a priority.
The meeting focused on the country's fuel reserves, consumption levels, and incoming petroleum cargoes. Participants included Chief of Defence Staff and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, National Security Adviser Lt Gen Asim Malik, and several federal ministers, highlighting the national security implications of the issue.

- A 50 per cent reduction in fuel allowances for official vehicles.

- 50 per cent of public sector staff working from home, excluding those in essential services.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif asserted, "We are able to provide relief to the people because of the policy of austerity." The Intelligence Bureau (IB) has been tasked with monitoring and auditing the implementation of these measures, ensuring compliance across government departments.
Public Encouraged to Adjust Habits and Prepare for Scenarios
The government's handout reiterated an appeal to the public to conserve petrol and diesel, specifically urging affluent citizens to lead by example in adopting austerity practices. Citizens are encouraged to adopt carpooling and avoid unnecessary travel to reduce fuel consumption.
