Rajasthan Shivers as Mercury Dips Near Zero, More Cold Ahead
Rajasthan Cold Wave: Temperatures Near Zero, More Chill Expected

Night temperatures plunged once again across several regions of Rajasthan, driven by the influence of a western disturbance. The mercury dipped alarmingly close to zero degrees Celsius in multiple areas, as confirmed by the weather department on Saturday.

Current Weather Conditions and Recorded Lows

The impact of the western disturbance was starkly evident in the recorded minimum temperatures. On Saturday morning, Lunkaransar in Bikaner district registered the coldest reading at a mere 0.3 degrees Celsius. This was closely followed by Nagaur at 0.5 degrees, Fatehpur at 2.3 degrees, Pali at 2.9 degrees, and Sikar at 3.2 degrees Celsius.

Mount Abu, Rajasthan's sole hill station, experienced a minimum temperature of 0.6 degrees Celsius. In contrast, the state capital, Jaipur, recorded a relatively milder low of 9.4 degrees Celsius. These figures highlight the widespread and intense nature of the cold spell gripping the desert state.

Forecast for the Coming Days

The weather is predicted to remain predominantly dry across Rajasthan for the next two to three days. However, the local Meteorological Centre has issued a warning regarding northerly winds. These winds are anticipated to cause a further decline in temperatures.

Specifically, minimum temperatures are expected to drop by an additional 3 to 5 degrees Celsius, while maximum temperatures may see a reduction of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius. This forecast suggests that the biting cold conditions are set to intensify in the short term.

Upcoming Western Disturbance and Rainfall Prediction

Another western disturbance is likely to become active over parts of Rajasthan between January 26 and 27. Its impact is projected to peak on January 27. This system is expected to bring light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder at isolated places, particularly in western and northern Rajasthan.

This development could alter the current dry spell and introduce wet weather conditions towards the end of the week. Residents and authorities are advised to stay updated with the latest weather bulletins.

Recent Weather Activity

Parts of Rajasthan also experienced rainfall on Friday. During this period, Jaisalmer recorded the lowest temperature at 6.2 degrees Celsius. This recent precipitation, combined with the ongoing cold wave, underscores the volatile weather patterns affecting the region.

The consecutive western disturbances are playing a significant role in driving these temperature fluctuations and precipitation events. The weather department continues to monitor the situation closely, providing timely updates to the public.
